Google NotebookLM Full Tutorial | Study Smarter with AI | AI Course Day 7

I started learning AI from the basics, and now the practical lessons have gradually begun. Today is Day 7 of this course. If you haven't read the previous lessons yet, please do so first — only then will today's lesson make more sense.

By the way, every AI tool is useful in its own way — AI is there to help us. But the tool I'm going to show you today is truly next-level. Especially if you're a student, or you love to read and write — like you read articles, you read books — this tool is going to save you a ton of time and make your work a lot easier. Its name is NotebookLM.

I just searched "NotebookLM" on Google and the first result opened. Now see what's going on — I have an article in front of me, "How People Really Use AI." It's a pretty long and detailed article. Honestly, sitting down to read all that takes time, and a lot of times things don't really sink in — reading it line-by-line on the website gets a bit boring. It's well-written, no doubt, it's just not easy for me to read. So let me show you the solution to that problem.

Not just the article — I also have a Class 10 Science PDF of the entire chapter, and another NCERT PDF on "Chemical Reactions and Equations." With so much reading material all at once, let's see how to make it easy and interesting.

First, let's try the article. The NotebookLM website opens, and its tagline is "Understand Anything." It has a simple interface. I clicked "Create New Notebook." Here you can either drop a file or paste a link.

I copied the link to my article, clicked the "Websites" option, pasted the link, and hit "Insert." The processing started right away.

In just a few seconds, it generated a complete summary — what the article is about, who wrote it, the key points, everything. Various options were also visible on the side. I tried "Mind Map" — and a very clean mind map appeared, which made it quite easy to understand. You can also explore it by dragging with the mouse.

At the very top was "Real World AI Usage Analysis" — first an overview of all the data, then branches within it, like "Methodology and Scope." When I went deeper, I found four sub-points — Platform Details, Data Size, and so on. When I opened Platform Details, I saw it was talking about the "Multimodal AI Interface." In the same way, you can drill down into any topic to pull out the details.

And another great thing — you can download the entire mind map; there's a button right at the top.

Now let's look at the second example. I took that Class 10 Science PDF, clicked "Create New Notebook," and dragged and dropped it directly. It instantly created a complete chapter summary.

Here I found another cool feature — "Audio Overview." As soon as I clicked, it generated a podcast-style audio with two people talking about the exact same topic from the PDF. And honestly, when two people are conversing like that, it doesn't feel like reading — it feels like you're listening to a story, and you grasp the topic through their conversation.

The best part — you can create these not just in English, but in languages like Hindi, Punjabi, and Gujarati. And you can also change the format — debate style, critique style, brief or long — all the options are right there when you click the pen/edit icon at the top.

There are also options like "Video Overview," "Reports," "Quiz," "Infographics," and "Slide Deck." I especially liked the quiz feature — solving it yourself makes the topic even more solid. And if you have any doubts, you can type them into the text box below and ask the AI directly.

Overall, NotebookLM turned out to be a very practical and time-saving tool. If you also want to make studying or reading easier, be sure to try it once — you'll have a lot of fun and learn in a new way.
